H. Frederick Oesch
Pronounced "Esch" has a combination of education, technical
experience, teaching, and management of human and material resources;
encompassing the full range of design disciplines. Conducting research on Environmental Design
and lecturing at universities in the U. S. and Europe, Fred Oesch has practiced Architecture,
Construction Technology, Product Design, and Fine Art. As the owner of a Design / Build firm,
he has designed and constructed high quality passive solar homes, custom interiors, furniture,
and commissioned fine art, for more than 25 years. He has also developed internationally
marketed furniture and architectural software. Oesch also served for 10 years as
Project Manager and CADD Supervisor for a renowned architecture firm, specializing in Historic
Preservation and Adaptive Reuse.
Fred Oesch has a Master's Degree in Architecture,
with pending Architectural Registration in Virginia. He is founder of Gallery Neo in
Charlottesville, VA., from which he manages Oesch Environmental Design [O.E.D.]. He is
currently writing a book titled "Regenerative Environmental Design," and is available for
residential or commercial design projects world wide, inc. lectures, and design / build workshops. His
specialties include: active and passive solar design [inc. photovoltaics], straw bale
construction, green oak post and beam, living earth roofs, and integrated organic environmental control systems
[inc. Hydronic Radiant Heating and Cooling].
Oesch is a sole-proprietor,
however he maintains a close association with many other Architects, Engineers,
Construction Managers, and Artisan / Contractors, with whom he has worked closely for over 20 years.
He prefers to keep his base organization small, as he believes it helps to maintain a greater overall singular vision,
project continuity, and cost effectiveness for his client friends. He manages a "virtual consortium," assembling highly
skilled inter-disciplinary teams for larger projects, rather than maintain a higher overhead and large staff,
thereby providing the most site-specific and cost-effective solutions for each client and project.
